In under two weeks, I will be standing on a stage, trying to be funny. And to succeed in my improvisation comedy debut, I’m going to have to remember eight weeks of information every time I open my mouth.

That is, if I DO open my mouth. I may just stand there, frozen to the spot. Eek!

The full terror hit me last Tuesday as I left our rehearsals. My whole mood slumped. ‘I can’t do this,’ I thought. ‘Can’t I just wag?’

As I trudged to the train station, I realised that all my clients (Brain to Book in 90 Days) hit this moment as they write their books. It is when you go past the fun of starting and learning … into the reality of delivering.

Now, you might be thinking, that’s it! I am never going to write my book if that is what happens.

But here’s the thing: if you pass through this moment, you transform.

You transform from would-be author to real author, from expert to authority, or from serious person to funny person (in my case).

No one can do this for you. You must choose to be different. Choose change. Don’t just flirt with change, but commit to change.

That is my challenge in the coming week: commit to funny, Kath.
